“Sam was invaluable as my doula during my labor and birth! During our initial prenatal meetings, she prepared me and my husband for what labor would be like, taught me ways to cope with the pain, and helped me with formulating my birthing plan. When my labor actually started, I was able to contact her to discuss what was going on and she helped keep me calm. Sam came to my house at 1 am when labor was getting really active and we discussed the next course of action (which at that point was "Go to hospital"). At the hospital Sam helped me figure out the best birthing positions to labor in, performed hip compressions to counter the contraction pains, and helped me breath through each contraction. Thanks to Sam, my husband and I were able to stay *relatively* calm during the labor process, knowing we had someone to guide us each step.
